After setting hearth to a home in 2015, a Fairview Heights man was sentenced to 9 years in jail.
Michael C. Newton, 25, pleaded responsible to aggravated arson July 27, virtually two years after he was charged with setting the hearth. Belleville police and hearth departments responded on Nov. four, 2015, to a fireplace on the 200 block of N. forty sixth Road on the Plaza Flats, based on courtroom paperwork.
Prosecutors stated Newton knew somebody was residence within the condo buildings on the time of the hearth.
Newton additionally was convicted of home battery and residential housebreaking, all unrelated expenses. He’ll serve his 5-yr sentence for housebreaking and one hundred-day sentence for the home battery concurrently together with his arson sentence.
