Smith, who resided in Hoover, Ala., when he died, was superintendent in Phenix Metropolis from 1976 to 1992.
After graduating from Coosa County Excessive Faculty in 1947, Smith earned a bachelor’s diploma in schooling from Alabama Polytechnic College (now Auburn College) in 1951 and enlisted within the U.S. Air Pressure.
