The Islamic State group has claimed duty for an assault in Russia’s Dagestan that killed one police officer and wounded one other.
Russian authorities reported on Monday that two males armed with knives attacked three cops within the Caspian Sea city of Kaspiysk. The lads killed one of many officers and wounded one other earlier than the third officer shot the assailants to dying.
A press release launched by the IS-affiliated information company Aamaq on Tuesday described the attackers in Kaspiysk as “troopers of the Islamic State.”
Police in Kaspiysk stated they discovered a flag bearing IS symbols on the website of the assault.
Dagestan is a predominantly Muslim area between Chechnya and the Caspian Sea. It has been a breeding floor for Islamic militants who mount common assaults on police and officers.
