Schmitt backs Hawley for Missouri Senate bid


Missouri Treasurer Eric Schmitt says he is backing fellow Republican Lawyer Common Josh Hawley to run for Democratic U.S. Sen. Claire McCaskill’s seat.

Schmitt had expressed curiosity in a U.S. Senate run, however on Tuesday introduced he will not search the Republican nomination. He had not taken any official steps to enter.

Schmitt says Republicans ought to unite behind Hawley, who this month opened a committee to discover a bid.
